In Her Web She Still Delights

Shortage

Last night I finally accepted the fact that, no, there was not going to be enough yarn to finish Unmentionables, and ordered more.  Fortunately, as it wasn't the free shipping it should arrive quickly.

I'm mildly peeved by this, since my gauge is smack on target (both stitch and row), and by the calculations I did there should have been more than enough; I was actually contemplating one fewer skeins than I ended up getting but decided to get the extra for safety margin.  And I did my numbers by length, not weight1.  All I can figure is that I read a yard measurement somewhere and thought it was meters, or vice versa.  This isn't a matter of being off by a couple feet, or even 30 or 40 feet, either; this is a matter of three whole extra skeins of yarn and I'm already having that sick feeling of wondering if it should have been four--I am reasonably certain the lace edging (which is only nine stitches wide at its widest) won't eat yarn too fast, but there sure is a lot of it...

1: Called for is Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece, 8 skeins at 215 yd per 100g skein, so 1720 yd.  I subbed KP Main Line, 82 yd/50 gm ball for...OK, I don't have the piece of paper on which I did my original calculations, but somehow I doubt I could have misread "20" as "11", which is what I ordered originally, and it's looking like 14 is actually going to do it nicely, and even with the Cotton Fleece in meters and the Main Line in yards that's 19.2 balls.  So I have no idea where the disconnect is.
