I've been a total slacker all week; the sock I'm working on hasn't gotten any closer to being done, and though my hand-drawn version of the Conan chart is finished, I haven't scanned it. I'm not certain what accounts for this.
On the other hand, my skein of CotLin should be arriving today, so I can swatch for Fire Dragon Year. I've been reading Sweater Design in Plain English, and it's telling me some useful things about working with non-resilient fibers. Also it includes a bit which explains, in the promised simple terms, how to work out a bust dart. So that's a total win. The dart is going to screw up my texture pattern, of course, but it'll be on the sides where it won't be obvious--and anyway, things like stripes get screwed up on women's blouses all the time; there's no reason I have to be more perfect than what they sell at Macy's.
What I really have to contemplate is edgings. I was thinking about about 4 rows of seed stitch to deal with the curl issue, but I also rather like the look of i-cord bindoffs and there's a picot edging I'm fond of. I will have to see.
