Liam wants a coat for Pennsic; it does occasionally get chilly, so this is not a bad idea. But what he wants is a Chinese-style jacket, with the overlapping front, and the only pattern I've got is meant for women (it's a Folkwear, surprise surprise) and goes up to a 44-inch chest.
As we discovered with the Golden Viking, Liam's chest is roughly 48 inches around.
This is not an insurmountable problem; now that I know what the pattern pieces are supposed to look like, I can scale things up easily enough. But it's going to be somewhat entertaining nonetheless, especially since I'm going to be making the thing out of some pseudo-suede-backed fleece that's about 3/4 of an inch thick. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed...
