Would you want the rows in your garden to be labelled with singulars or plurals?
Singular: there's only one kind of plant there
Plural: since there's more than one plant, the label should reflect that
Don't care: as long as I can read it, the details are unimportant

Neighborhood

posted Tuesday, 22 January 2008

Yesterday was a holiday for the county, so I stayed home.  In mid-afternoon, I heard what sounded like an accident outside, literally around the corner from my street (mine's an alley, actually); the car making all the noise was maybe half a block away from my house.  I remember thinking that the sound was very odd, more like crackling than the usual car-wreck crunching.

Yeah, well, there's a reason for that: the crackling sound wasn't actually the car wreck, it was the automatic weapon fire that caused the car wreck.  Seriously.  A couple of guys in SUVs were driving along shooting frigging AKs at each other, in my neighborhood.

All I can say is, I'm glad I didn't yield to the impulse to look out the window and see what was going on...
