OK, I just looked at my stats.
Up through September of 2006, I was buzzing along at about 1500 hits a month. In October, I started writing for PayPerPost, and my number of hits jumped to somewhere in the low to mid 3000s--not surprising, every PPP post generates at least two hits, one when the autochecker looks for link text and once when the human reviewer reads it for content.
Then, in January, I went from 3800 hits to 5700. I dunno what caused it; there were big spikes on the 12th, 18th and 30th, and a lesser one on the 24th. I haven't looked for correspondence to particularly interesting posts yet.
And then in February? 9,816 hits. 1000 of them on the 17th, and 1500 on the 24th. And on the 24th, nearly a thousand of those hits happened between 11 pm and midnight. (And, I may note, the only post I made that day was about having trouble finding a skirt pattern, nor were the entries from the day before particularly scintillating.)
And today's the first of March, and I have 587 hits already...and it's not even evening computer time yet, in the US. 587x31=a lot more than I would have expected; I have no clue what the heck I did that suddenly made me more interesting, but it's kind of flattering.
