Over the weekend we caught a bit of something on the Science Channel about the Delphic Oracle. Much like the last time, when they got to the bit about the priests being not entirely reliable on their interpretations of the Pythia's pronouncements, the following happened:
1: All questions presented to the Oracle have been painstakingly researched, though the answers have not. Querents who are sticklers for the truth should get their own oracles.
2: Did you hear what that Spartan guy said? "Fight in the shade", my ass! I'm getting a better army.
3: Postulants to the priesthood of Delphi are lucky to be working at all, much less clogging up the works trying to get prophecies. Querents who have gotten an answer recently should sit on their hands and let someone else have a chance for a change.
4: All opinions expressed by the Pythia are reasoned and insightful. Needless to say, they are not those of Twin-Tongued Apollo, his priests or lackeys. Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight!
I freely acknowledge that this is geeky in approximately five different directions. You all knew this job was dangerous when you took it.
