In Her Web She Still Delights

I am beginning to suspect that the shirt I'm wearing today may be one size too big.  It's a black knit top, with a sort of faux-layer look at the neckline, which is decorated with some very nice silver beading.  I like this top, but there are some issues.  For one thing, the sleeves are slightly too long.  This in itself is not a dealbreaker, as the sleeves on most readymade garments are too long for me; my arms did not participate in the stretching that left my legs much longer than they should be, so they're actually in proportion to my height (and, as a side effect, I couldn't touch my toes even when I was twelve and able to make my elbows meet behind my back).

What's leading me to suspect a problem is the neck.  You have to understand that I have shoulders like a 3/4 scale linebacker--they are very broad, especially for a woman1.  If for some reason I decide I actually need a jacket, I generally have to buy them even larger than is necessary to fit my bust, because otherwise they're tight across the back.  Meanwhile, this shirt's neck is broad enough that I have to keep constant watch on it lest my bra straps show2.  It's possible that this is just the nature of the broad-V neckline, but the shoulder seams are also a good half inch down from the points of my shoulders.

It's much too late to take this back for an exchange, alas, as I'm not sure I even recall where it was bought, and I'm sure not going to take the sleeves out and resew them on a garment that cost $15 new.  And I do like it; broad, deep necklines do good things for the looks of my chest.  But I should have gotten a smaller size.

1: Yes, I have difficulty finding readymade clothes that fit: broad shoulders, long legs, short waist, and a bustline that can be described as "generous".  Seperates are my friends, believe you me.

2: It does not, admittedly, help that my current favorite bra has straps that like to slide inward.  The fact remains that when the straps are where they're supposed to be, they still show; I have to keep pushing them out almost to the points of my shoulders.
