How Can I Be Homesick?

Last night I walked out onto the lift platforms of Thunder Bluff and looked across the valley to the hills on the other side¹.  I went to Dolanaar and Bloodhoof Village to see the Elders for the Lunar Festival.  I flew over Feralas and watched the jungle pass beneath me.  I went to Darkshore and Menethil Harbor and Thelsamar and Ironforge.

How can I be homesick for a place that doesn't even exist?

1: Which I can see, because the laptop can handle the cranked video settings.  It makes it much easier to figure out the geographic (azerographic?) relationships of things when you can see further, let me tell you.
