Flatware

posted Monday, 23 January 2006

My mom tells me that my flatware pattern, Dansk's "Odin" (and how cool a name is that?  I didn't even know till just now) has been discontinued.  I only have four place settings, and one is incomplete due to a missing salad fork.

So if anyone's got any they're willing to part with, let me know and we'll talk.  cschutrick@yahoo.com wants your flatware!

There are some flatware and china companies which keep a certain amount of discontinued stock in their warehouses or have warehouse stores where you can, e.g., replace the broken teacup from your great-grandma's heirloom china.

Spode comes immediately to mind as one of these companies, but Dansk may do this as well. Might be worth looking into :)

I found at least one place online that sells it piece by piece; just do a search on Odin or follow the links by brand. http://www.dishesdecorandmore.com/

I don't know that the prices are so good that you'd want to buy any more complete sets, but you could at least replace the fork.

Given that it's usually on the order of $80 for a place setting, and that the closeout prices on that page come out to $65.65, I may be able to get a couple place settings for my birthday. :) Thanks!

That's a shame. Dansk's own website had them down to $50 before they sold out. Bleh.
