Soaked my morning glory seeds all together, planted them. I used up the last of my potting soil to do it, and I am considering how much a truckload of topsoil would cost me. Big problem is there's nowhere to dump it until I could get it into the back courtyard.
Also put in pansies, and I'm going to start some columbine indoors to avoid the problem I had last year, whereby the seedlings that looked like columbine turned out to be huge honkin' weeds. Columbine is a perennial, which means I'll see no significant action this year, but the mix I have is bicolored and should be pretty once established.
The blueberry has leaf buds on it, as I mentioned, which means it needs a buddy (or, to be blunt, a mate; blueberries aren't self-fertile). Gotta get some strawberry starts for the pot, and a perforated PVC pipe to put down the middle so as to be sure of watering the whole thing.
Most of the irises appear to be recovering from the serious division Megan and I did last fall, though there's one in the Batik pot which seems not to be sending up any leaves. Hopefully I get more than one variety blooming at a time this year, so I can try crosses. Nothing like embarking on a program that'll take a minimum of three years to produce any results (Year one: cross happens, seeds are planted in the fall. Year two: seedlings grow but produce no flowers. Year three: seedlings bloom, if you're lucky; if not wait till year four). At the very least I'd like to be able to differentiate Radiant Apogee and Night Edition--I labled the pots when I planted, but the marker was not waterproof. Ooops. I may can Full Tide, as it turned out to be a boring and common lavender instead of the light, bright blue promised by the picture on the package. If I want lavender I can dig some out of my mom's garden.
