Pease Porridge

posted Tuesday, 13 March 2007
I am pleased to say that my peas weathered the chil Sunday night with no damage.  I set them out on Sunday, with a little bone meal mixed into the dirt; they don't need any other fertilizer because they're legumes and handle it on their own.  (Now that I have the bone meal I ought to try and get some in with the irises as well, since some of them can probably use the boost to their soil.)  Anyway, I wasn't really worried about the peas because their package says "Can withstand extremely cold temperatures", but it was still nice to see them soldiering through.  If things keep up at the rate promised by the package, I should have peas by late May.
