In Her Web She Still Delights

Robes

If I am working it out correctly1, Pennsic this year falls entirely within the sixth lunar month.  That means that the appropriate robes are single hitoe2 in one of five or six approved colors over another white hitoe (presumedly with larger sleeves, since that's how it generally works).  They're supposed to be made of "raw silk", which is apparently not the stuff that your modern JoAnn's shopper thinks of when hearing the phrase.  I must see if I can find some.

Also I have to decide if I need a kosode and hakama, because if so I should probably make a few more if I'm planning to be Heian at War...

1: It annoys the hell out of me that I have to "work it out", because there is nowhere on the web that has a correspondence between the Japanese lunar calendar and the Western calendar other than "lunar new year is 18 Feb", which I already knew.  I had to find a Chinese one, which was tough enough, and fudge.  The site I've used the last few years doesn't have 2007.

2: "Unlined robe".  One of the names for this kind of outfit is ju-ni hitoe, which means "twelve unlined robes".  But aside from the basic hitoe which goes in every outfit, generally unlined robes are only worn in the summer.
