I finished the Golden Viking last night (though I have not as yet taken a picture of it) and it was ceremonially tried on. It fits him well enough, though I think I should have gone for the largest size after all. We'll see if blocking can ease it out a little. This also means that I should dig up the book I bought for a knitting journal and write it up.
In the meantime, I'm going to try and get the matching hat underway, but since my Big Box o'Wool should be arriving today (that seems to be what "Sortation Center Departure" generally means, anyhow) we'll see how long my good intentions last. The big box includes yarn for two pairs of winter kneehighs for me, several shades of brown and green to swatch for Twining Ivy, and blue and yellow--rather than the pattern's green and burgundy--for "I Want a Small Dog", a colorwork thing for my cousin's daughter for Christmas.
Once I have it swatched and have picked a color combo, I'm going to send Twining Ivy's stats off to Interweave Knits. I've never worked for them, or any other knitting magazine for that matter, but I think the pattern I have in mind will have enough interesting features that they'll be intrigued. I'm doing this odd intarsia cable thing, and I want a provisional caston to allow for i-cord edgings, and probably bell sleeves--set-in, of course. And a bit of fitting at the waist, with a v-neck. I haven't decided yet whether the edgings should be brown to match the body or green for the contrast; I may have to do one of each and see.
We'll see. :) I'm going to the baseball game with my dad tonight, so there
will be limited opportunities for picture taking. But maybe tomorrow.
