So you've gotten through the character types demo of EverAge of Warpirates: Shadows of Eve, and you're ready to create a character of your very own. You pick a species, and some of the species have subspecies; these choices have small effects on your starting stats--mostly, it should be noted, the physical ones, though a few choices affect things like your potential for magical ability. You pick a gender. Generally, there are three buttons for this, those being "male", "female", and "determine randomly", the latter for those who prefer to keep things in the hands of Fate. But there's the one race of humans for whom only females are playable as PCs, and one species that is asexual like Gethenians--most of the time they just don't have gender, and when they do either partner in a pairing can bear a child.
You do not pick a class, precisely, since this game uses Hexedian's Skill Map or something like it; all the skills are on a chart, and having ability in one skill gives you some ability in nearby skills as well: being good at Tailoring helps you with Leatherworking, being good at Acrobatics helps with Dancing, ability with Arcane Lore is useful in Spellcasting, and so on. You get some number of skills, probably divided into primary and secondary--if you want to be a really great crafter, but don't care so much about adventuring, you can make all your primary skills crafting ones! But there are at least a few sample packages with set names--if you want to be a sword-based fighter, you hit that button and your primary skills are filled in as Edged Weapons, Shield, Taunting and Parry, for example. Maybe you have some small subset of your skill slots that need to be filled with particular types of skills: one skill out of six has to be a weapon, and one has to be a crafting skill (because you had to do something to earn your living before you became an adventurer).
Oh, and there should be appearance customization of City of Heroes/Villains-level complexity. And you should be able to create a female character with a bust smaller than a C-cup if you so desire, and a male character who doesn't look like he could do an Iron Cross.
