So if you play WoW, and have any characters who've fallen into disuse because you just can't stand the idea of going through Stranglethorn Vale one! more! time!, the latest patch may offer some hope. I've been doing the new quests in Dustwallow Marsh with my Tauren druid, and they are entertaining and offer good story without too much grinding--there's a lot of the kind of overlap where you're killing 10-of-one-kind-and-10-of-another for one quest, while gathering items they drop for another and searching for an item of some kind in their area for a third. It makes for very efficient XP generation, even ignoring the recent change to leveling speed1. Also it was amusing, if a little gruesome, to gank 1st level critters as part of a quest.
I must say, though, that the scenery in STV is a lot more cheerful; Dustwallow is a marsh, and hence brown, grey, and gloomy. And I do have to go back to STV occasionally, for the fishing--best coastline in Azeroth for floating debris, which can be really lucrative if you get it during a time when there aren't many others around (i.e. not during the weekend fishing contest).
1: Why, I leveled a character to 70 back when it meant something, I'll have you know. You kids get offa my lawn!
