Misc ideas and swatches:

  • Twining Ivy.  Fitted, with a v-neck and slight bell sleeves; brown with a green vine-and-leaf cable pattern.  I have a good idea what it's going to look like and I have swatched (which confirms my suspicion that a two-stitch-wide cable is not worth going to the bother of intarsia over; just bringing the yarn across the back works fine).  Problem is, the yarn I like for color and weight is a pure alpaca, which is going to be horribly, hideously warm.  So I'm still contemplating.
  • Fire Dragon Year.  Allover modified Barbara Walker dragonskin in bright red cotton/linen, with fun 3/4 sleeves.  My mockup has the front and back done, and most of one sleeve.  I haven't picked it up in months.  Should get a move on so I can have the pattern ready to go for spring.
  • Natrøje.  I was looking through Knitting in the Old Way and discovered I rather like the look of a very old-fashioned Scandinavian silhouette with knit-and-purl designs.  Problems: for some reason my brain has decided it should be red (see Fire Dragon, above), and in Brown Sheep's Cotton Fine, which is a cotton/wool blend again bearing some similarity to Fire Dragon's CotLin.  So further development is clearly necessary.
  • Goth Baby. Black lace in a spider pattern, with possibly skulls or something for an edging, and silver or bone buttons.  For people tired of pastels on their infants.
  • I have vague stirrings of a Fair Isles idea, inspired greatly by the continuing work on Autumn Rose.
