OK. I'm currently swatching, but barring some horrific disaster when the swatch is washed, Fire Dragon Year is going to happen in KnitPicks's CotLin. The other two yarns I tried were acceptable, but they both had flaws--the wool/silk blend was a gorgeous color but I was leaning towards a summer garment, while the 100% cotton was a little too glaringly red and also quite hard; it felt almost like very thick crochet thread.
This stuff is slightly bluer for a more crimsony red, which I like, and has a lovely soft feel too it that's almost buttery. So I'm going to do a few repeats of the pattern, measure my gauge, and then wash it and measure again.
I also got a skein of natural-white wool sock yarn that I'm going to try dyeing, just for the hell of it.
