
Just for the sake of pretty, two shots of my first iris of the year. I think it's reasonably clear why the variety is called Blatant, don't you? The petals don't actually have a white scrim, that's just the light reflecting off the rain--it was drizzling when I took the pictures. Other than that the colors are quite true, at least on my monitor. (It's amazing what natural, diffuse light will do for even the shakiest of photography skills...which mine are.) In the background of the first picture, on the right, you can see the pot and leaves of Best Bet, which is getting revved up to bloom as well. There will probably be pictures of it and its brethren.
As far as I know, all the ones that I have are tall bearded irises--I'm just a sucker for the variety you can get. Fortunately there are many older varieties that are just as impressive as new ones, because the new introductions tend to run $40+ per rhizome and I'm just not that into gardening.
